Field Day Success

K4RNC participated in the 2025 ARRL field day, gathering at Freedom Baptist Church in Rockingham NC.

The following is heavily contributed by Mark Gibson, K4MQU.

Every June, more than 31,000 hams throughout North America set up temporary transmitting stations in public places to demonstrate ham radio’s science, skill and service to our communities and our nation. It combines public service, emergency preparedness, community outreach, and technical skills all in a single event. Field Day has been an annual event since 1933, and remains the most popular event in ham radio.

Prior to the official start of ARRL Field Day, the club enjoyed a social time with food and friends and set up portable stations for the event.

By start of the event, members had a public station and several club members ran stations on various bands, making contacts across the continent and around the world. Club members set up planned, semi-improvised portable antennas and station, powered by solar, battery and AC. Most were contacting via phone/voice with a few on CW/morse code.

A big thanks to Mark, N4MQU who helped to organize, register and submit contacts afterwards and who submitted a write up to The Richmond Observer.
